There are a number of Kickstart Scheme opportunities within the City Council for young people in our district.

Kickstart jobs are funded by the Government to offer exciting opportunities for young people to gain valuable work experience. The opportunities offer valuable experience to build up a young person’s CV, boost future job prospects and help to start their career. The scheme is open to people aged 16-24 that are currently claiming Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.

  • Closing date: 21 January 2022 but is likely to be extended until early Feb.
  • Who can apply: Must be claiming Universal Credit and be 16 to 24 years old.
  • Working hours: 25 hours per week.
  • Hourly rate: national minimum wage.
  • Comprehensive induction programme.
  • A variety of different training opportunities.
  • Develop ICT skills, time management skills as well as develop confidence when communicating with colleagues, managers and customers.
  • Regular catchups with their manager.
